((The Broken Keel, for all of those who know it, now has a menu. It was created by myself and Mirfallen's player. While the GHI version is still not yet made, you can look at the flashy version on google documents. No sign up should be required.

For those who don't know the Broken Keel, it is a player run tavern that exists every Friday from 21:00 server time--on. Normally it ends around 2 or 3, depending on crowd mass, but you can expect to see an atmosphere where just about anything can happen. Brawls, parties, laughter, love. Drinks and food doled out generously, and friendly staff just eager to please.

Tips to bear in mind to maximize your enjoyment at the Keel....
(disclaimer: The following list is in no way aimed at any one person, incident, or event. These tips are not meant to patronize, isolate, point fingers, or dictate the RP of anyone. They are merely suggestions, and should be heeded, or disregarded, as such. However, if suggestions are disregarded, depending on any OOC disruptive incidents caused as a result, one may be subject to reports of harassment)

Set your chatlogs to only RP. Because the Keel is every Friday, we can get anywhere from a small crowd to a large one, depending. Large crowds produces a lot of scrolling text. Set your chatlogs so that your channels and other chats not needed at the time are not visible in the same chatlog as the RP. That will reduce scroll and help you better keep track of what's going on.

Take it in small doses! While you can probably see the chatter happening on the other side of the Keel--within reason--it's recommend that if you're overwhelmed, just focus on the names of those who are talking to your character, occasionally taking note of the happenings around you. ICly, that is realistic, as no one person can pay attention to everything in a tavern at once. Don't overload your mind. Someone told me there is a way to color code your chats, so that those of a specific race or class show up in a different color than the normal conventional white of /s.

Don't be scared! Make friends! For those who are of the more introverted nature, you can still enjoy the Keel by taking a friend with you. It's not forced on you to interact with everyone, and no one will fault you if you'd rather stay within your comfort zone. We all do that. But at least you're showing up, in the midst of others, so that now people know you exist. And that can just increase your RP player base for when you need it most or are lonely.

Seek out the staff. The Keel staff sometimes has a hard time noticing you if you stay in the far corner, and you're hidden behind massive tauren. That's just an example. Sometimes you're right in plain view, but we may all think that someone else has served you. Don't just sit there and wait and wait...and wait for us to go to you. We try our best to get to everyone, but you may be overlooked if you don't let us know you're still waiting. We will usually whisper you if we're unsure ("have you been served yet?") but if that doesn't happen, stand near us, or whisper us, until we get the message. But please keep it to civil, friendly reminders. Those RPing Keel staff are not here to entertain just you, and they are definitely not here to jump at your beckon call. They are here to have fun, and try to make it so you have fun too. But no one has fun if the whip's being cracked.

Try to avoid massive emotes or /s. A few from time to time is fine, but space them out, so that the chatlog doesn't scroll even faster. You'll know that someone else just had a paragraph when your chatlog jumps, and if that happens, be considerate to those reading the chatlog with you, and don't lay yet another paragraph on them immediately after the first.

Be patient and reasonable! The Keel is not created to bring the RP to you. None of the staff can stand around talking to just you. It wouldn't be that way in a real tavern either. The Keel is focused on bringing RPers together, so they can make the magic themselves. Yes, Sastri, Zachery, and others will engage your character in conversation from time to time, but the rest is up to you. Don't leave after the first few minutes of not being interacted with. Get involved! Listen in on other conversations and see if you can find an opening to talk with them. Whisper those around you if they'd be okay with your character joining. Comment randomly to someone about the food, or the atmosphere, the weather--anything! Pick out someone who seems to be sitting by themselves, and sit down with them. If you put in the effort, you will be rewarded.

Still too much chat? If the chatlogs are still too much for you, go outside. There is a massive stretch of land just outside the Keel, complete with a fence, a hill, as well as other buildings--And don't forget the Treasure Shoppe just down the road! If the environment has gotten too hectic for you, take a breather and enjoy some fresh air. The Keel staff will do their best to serve you even outside, provided you let us know you're there. We know how sometimes the chatlogs just get difficult, so we never will fault you for needing to go where they're not bombarding you.

Don't take things too seriously! Yes, we all want our characters to be appreciated, to make them look good, and to not be taken lightly. We want people to notice our pro RP skeels, and our mastery of lore. But at the Keel, this is a tavern atmosphere. It seats all races, all classes, and all social status. We have nobles and commoners alike. We have tribal shaman and blood thirsty mercenaries. Sometimes we have brawls. Sometimes we have innuendo slung about. We try our best to keep it PG 13, but sometimes things slip. If something is offending you, whisper us politely, but also bear in mind, that if you come to a tavern in real life, chances of people changing for you are slim.

Consider what you as a player wants, not just what your character wants. Yes, we all want our characters to react realistically to their character, but sometimes we take it too far, ultimately hurting ourselves or limiting our RP in the process. Sometimes, we will say that the character leaving, or keeping him or herself segregated from others is the only realistic option. However, there are ways to make the character stay, or even show up, if you, as a player, want to. Some suggestions that have been tried in the past: Have them trip on their way out the door. Have them catch wind of a hot blonde walking past them into the Keel. Have them duck into the tavern to be absorbed into the crowd so a bounty hunter can't find them. Have them seeking a friend, who your character thought might be here--even if mistaken. Be a food critic. Be a journalist getting the scoop on the tavern. Ask Keel patrons questions pertaining to a crime, or criminal. Make it known a character is trying to avoid another character attending the Keel at the same time. Get creative!

Do not take your OOC angst with you. The Keel is open RP. That means even those we are not fond of may show up. Heck, you may not even like all the players RPing the staff--or even the owner! :P But please note that we do our utmost to keep any OOC grudges or problems away from the Keel. If you are caught griefing someone OOCly who is trying to enjoy the Keel, you WILL be reported. And if it happens too many times, the Keel staff reserves the right to make your harassment of this player known to the people RPing at the Keel along with you. So to avoid mass humiliation, do not attempt to cause problems in an OOC manner. We do not take kindly to harassment.

You can still come, and have fun, even if you do not like everyone there. We take all whispered complaints seriously, but we cannot always solve the problem. The best we can do is RP with your character separate from the character of the player you are at odds with. And if it's one of us, we understand and won't go out of our way to approach your character. But do not let OOC problems keep you away, if you really want to be here! The Keel is filled enough where you don't even have to RP with that player the whole night. Stick to those you know, or make new friends. There are so many possibilities! Get creative! Because if you want to be here, be here! If you don't, then don't. But if you leave, or do not even show up, you can't claim anyone made you, but yourself.

Have fun! At the end of the day, the Keel is made just for that, to have an atmosphere, where things can happen, consequences don't carry over--within reason--and RP is abundant. Try your best to remember that, when you come here, and do your best to be considerate to yourself and others.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. And hope to see you Friday!

what she said. Drink menu will be around when I'm physically, mentally, motivationally sound, and not sleep-deprived. I still have other things to do before I can work on that one. Slowly but surely recovering enough to get back into the game. But glad you enjoyed that menu. :)

Oh god...
So much text, so much food! I'll never be able to memorize that D=

And now I can't just order something simple off-menu either, dammit.

O look, it's a person that used to be a person but is now a person.

You sure can order something off menu! :) These are helpers for those who don't know what they want. But the Keel keeps special requests on their list of priorities. Anything to keep the custies happy.

Menu looks ffing awesome,

"We maintain that all our dishes are rat, rot and insect free"

Guess that would be the opposite of what you can expect at "The Rotten Limb"

The OOC tips can be handy with any RP event even.

News just in, my half-rotten friends! Phelaka has discovered a previously unexploited niche of the market: rotten fish left out in the sun and likely laced with sulfur! And Sastri vomit! Ask about our Sulfur Fishcake: a fantastic pudding that will leave you dying for more.
